The following is the description of that portion of the scholarship to be awarded to John Handley High School as found in the certificate of incorporation:
"A scholarship is to be awarded to a graduating senior at John Handley High School, Winchester, Virginia, who has had a performance part, on stage, in the senior play (not including being on stage crew), or who has participated in any of the school's listed stage performances, music concerts, or chorus, as a performer, or who took six (6) semesters of classes in the visual arts*, or any equivalent combination of the above activities, and who also participated in the varsity sports of football, wrestling, or baseball for a total of five (5) seasons in any combination thereof."
The mission of this award is to encourage Handley athletes to participate in the visual and performing arts.
*For purposes of the scholarship, visual art is defined as drawing, painting, and sculpture. It does not include computer art, film, video, or photography.

3. Give the referral to an art/music/theater production teacher with an addressed envelope. The envelope should also be addressed to The Shenandoah Fine Art Scholarship address listed above. Have her/him complete the form and mail it directly to the scholarship fund address in New York.
